Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee
The ACTRA Montreal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee inclusively supports the empowerment of all members of diverse communities and differing abilities. The Committee seeks to redress past and present inequities in the industry by identifying, recommending, and assisting in the coordination of initiatives, as well as reporting on the process and results of this ongoing work to the Montreal Branch Council.
DEIB initiatives shall further the goals and objectives of ACTRA, its Constitution, and By-laws.
Initiatives shall promote:
- Community building among those of diverse communities, and performers with differing abilities within the membership of ACTRA Montreal.
- Awareness and understanding of ACTRA, its policies, objectives, and results;
- Awareness and understanding of ACTRA Member services;
On behalf of the Branch Council, the Committee shall:
- Select, from among its membership, a Committee Chair;
- Solicit additional Committee participation from ACTRA Montreal members-at-large;
- Identify and articulate current challenges faced by performers of diverse communities, and performers with differing abilities;
- Develop initiatives within ACTRA that directly support performers of diverse communities, and performers with differing abilities in dealing with challenges;
- Advocate for ACTRA Montreal members of diverse communities, and members with differing abilities by lobbying with industry partners to promote hiring practices which reflect our societal diversity;
- Empower ACTRA Montreal members of diverse communities, and members with differing abilities through networking, resource sharing, and community-driven promotion initiatives;
- Foster within ACTRA an environment that supports solidarity, mutual respect, cooperation, and understanding, free of harassment or discriminatory behavior on any basis;
- Work constructively with the ACTRA Montreal staff resources as assigned.
