Acting with Accents: Standard American
Many American productions choose Montreal as a prime shooting location because we can easily play as New York, Boston, Washington and other American locations. To better recreate the American illusion in Montreal, Producers are also looking for performers who can walk the talk and do it with a Standard American Accent.
Acting With Accents: Standard American will teach you how to incorporate the sounds and rhythms for American English and give you the knowledge of vocal mechanics that create a Standard American Accent.
The workshop will offer 8 hours of group instruction, initial feedback, vocal exercises and one-on-one coaching. Built to set you up for success (if you put the work in) to help you nail that audition, book the role and do it all sounding like a Hollywood native speaker.
Learning Objectives
Assisting the actors in finding the freedom to perform “moment to moment” truthfully and creatively, while using an accent. Starting with the use of rhythm, then vocal placement, vowels, syllables, slang and song.
